SUMMER NEWS LETTER #17

NOVEMBER 3, 2009

Subject: Hi from Ontario

Enjoy your summer newsletter..... Sure miss spending our winters at BG but I don't miss the packing and traveling to get there. We might visit this winter in March for a couple of weeks...you know Don loves to attend Winter Texan Appreciation Day!!" Don and Ruth King Canada

David and Kathy Whittier lot # 231 We spent the summer in Maine as work campers at a KOA near our home which we have rented out to a family. We were able to see a lot of our family and friends since it was near home. David took a very intensive course to renew his EMT license and is now licensed again. I took a Spanish course to improve my Spanish. We left Maine in early Sept. and traveled to special events in Gettysburg, visited friends in Pittsburgh and Max and Clara Beck in Indiana, on our way to a Montana owners rally in Goshen, IN. My Mom had a stroke in NJ so David went on to the rally and then to our work camping job in Savannah, Georgia at Skidaway Island State Park, a lovely place. I flew to be with Mom (94) and have been taking care of her for 4 weeks as she nears the end of her life. Hospice has been wonderful. Later I will join David in Savannah. We look forward to being at BG around Dec. 15. Kathy

Donna & Ivan Stanwood (W134) thank everyone who sent cards to help celebrate our 60th wedding anniversary. Our anniversary date was October 1, but we celebrated on October 11 with a card shower & reception at North Mission Church of Christ fellowship hall. Our son & his youngest daughter flew in from Cody, Wyoming.. Our daughter, son-in-law & 2 young children came from Illinois. Our family & Church family joined us for a nice visit & refreshments. One friend from Church made a video of many of our old pictures that was full of memories & so precious to us. Who thought we'd be around this long!

Barb: I was glad to read that you will continue with the newsletter. I enjoy reading the letters even if I do not know many of them that have been lucky to come to one of the greatest resorts in Texas. I miss coming there very much.

Hello to all the friends that I had to leave behind.

Ed and Doris Wofford--Formerly E-60

Doris and I would like to say HI to all our BG friends. We will miss you and all the activities this winter.

We are all settled in now in our new residence. We live in a nice duplex, with a small lake just across the street. Lots of wild geese there all the time. Although I don't fish, they tell me it is full of fish.

There are activities here, but not like BG, where we spent 23 good years, and made many friends.

Don and Phyllis Barr came by and spent a couple days with us on their way back to the Valley. We really enjoyed them.

Our address is 5801 N. Oakwood Rd. #E-103 Enid, Okla. 73703 We welcome correspondence.

Our son, Michel, is taking the auctioneering job. I hope everyone supports him, as you did me. I know the hill he has to climb. Like me, he has no experience as an auctioneer. He will do just fine, I am sure.

To all our friends in BG, we say "take care", and you will always be in our thoughts. Ed and Doris Wofford

Barb Goff A26 Friday night, the Activity Office held the annual Halloween Bash. It was well attended by monsters and witches-and “normal folks” as well. There were lots of original costumes. It was fun to guess who were behind those masks. We enjoyed games and wonderful finger foods. And what a pleasure it was to sit on the new padded chairs. You won’t need to bring a pillow to the main hall anymore.

I think that for now, if you want to share photos with the News Letter address list, just go to your favorite photo program and after uploading your photos, send the link in your letter. That would be the easiest way of doing it. I use Kodak Gallery (Kodak gallery.com) and here is the link to view my photos In the very left bottom corner of the pictures there is a tiny arrow to click on to get the captions.

I’m sure that there are many more.

Last week a park resident went to the Don-Wes Flea Market in their 2008 Chevie. When they had finished shopping and went to the parking lot, they were shocked to discover that their car was no where to be seen! Even with a high priced security system, their car was stolen! A lesson for all of us. Maybe a CLUB would have prevented the theft.

A Winter Texan who does not have a computer but who would like to get the News Letter has approached me. She suggested that I send a hard copy to those who would like to read the News. I would be glad to send it out if I have self addressed stamped envelopes. Pass the word along and I’ll see what happens. Meanwhile, I’ll post a hard copy on the board for those in the park without computers..

A rumor is going around that Paul Huddelston is married. Paul Huddelston is not married. He will be getting married next year. A letter in the August News Letter said “Paul Huddleston announced in Church Sunday that he is getting married in January.” So please do not spread the rumor that he is already married.

This e-mail address is for the News Letter only. It has no connection with the Bentsen Grove Resort Office or with the Activity Office.

I’ll be sending out another News Letter this month if I receive any more letters. Don’t forget to send me a change of e-mail address if you do change.

See ya soon! Barb
