SUMMER NEWS LETTER #10

JULY 21, 2009

Gen Bobzein W 233 July 9

Don and I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you that have inquired about our Grand daughter the past five months. Your support and prayers have meant more to us than I can tell you. Abigale had her heart surgery July 7th at the Kansas City Children’s Hospital. She is a little fighter and is doing well. Thank you once again.

Wilma Mueller A47 –July 14

As many of you know Wathena Stock (W111) has ovarian & colon cancer as well as some tumors around the stomach. She has taken 3 very strong chemo treatments before the doctors would do surgery. The surgery was done on the 13th & the doctor was very pleased with the results. Tom called me last night & said she was doing good. She teaches water color painting here & the doctor said she would be able to come to TX this fall. Wathena will still have to have treatments & may have some here. If you have had it or know someone who has you know cancer is certainly a scary thing.

I heard that Charlie Sinclair, formally of F46 passed away & Marian Kinsella, E14 passed away yesterday, the 13th. Our prayers go out to their families.

We are still having hot days, but it is down from 109 to 101. Still need a lot of rain , some of our trees are really showing it.

Barb Stiver (A50) is finally home. She spent a month in Mission hospital , a month in McAllen hospital & 2 months at Braircliff. She is doing well.

Barb Goff had some trouble with the newsletter last time but she doesn't need to feel bad. I think she is doing a wonderful job & it must be a mess to do. Thanks again Barb!!You guys up north have a good summer & enjoy your cool weather.

To Whom It May Concern: We were given a number of movies and religious VCR's for the Library about the first of July. They were taken before I could process them. If you took them to watch and have every intention of returning them, would you give me a call so I can stop fretting? We were going to try to establish a film library also but now it is looking
like that would not work. I am really hoping it was a 'borrow.'

Jim and Mable Herbert July 18

We had our summer outing here at our home in Winnebago. It turned out very nice. 30 people showed up. Betty Skillings at A-28 brought dozens of home made bread and nut rolls. We had a good meal fixed all three nights for the group. Ribs, 1/2 chicken and prime rib and all the trimmings. Mable and Jim Herbert E-1

Betty Danford, Dimondale, MI (Pass resident A-22) Thank you Barb for the summer emails. It is nice to read and still know some of the people you hear from.

I am sad with all the deaths of friends we had in this newsletter. Sorry to hear that that Doris and Ed Wofford are leaving the park. I worked on the auctions when Ed first started. I have just completed six weeks of having a complete knee replacement and doing great. Hello to all my friends that still remember me as I miss the great times we all shared in the park. Betty

- July 19 Well, the farewell party for Ed & Doris Wofford went well. There were about 50 there. This event was done by the people who worked in the auction. Ed was given a plaque from the hospital for his years of service. Ed gave a speech & could hardly do it. He thanked all the people who have helped him all these years. They had a lot of friends in the park & if it had been done in the winter the hall wouldn't be big enough. Gen said he was the second nicest boss she had ever had & never yelled at her. Wonder why he yelled at me all the time. There were a few volunteers from the hospital there including the Director of Volunteers, Lisa. They will be leaving August 4th. Ed & Doris you will be missed & we hope you both enjoy your remaining years doing whatever you desire. We hope another auctioneer comes along to fill your shoes. Please keep in touch.

Just a small favor to the folks living up north. We have been having some pretty hot weather, it has been 100 - 109 (heat index more) all this

month. Since you are enjoying 50 -60 degree days, couldn't you send us some. Or at least some sympathy.

Ron Cass July 20 A CRY FOR HELP!

Pablo Estrada of Estrada Pest Control has been one of our better pest control guys in our park for many years. Many of us have been amazed the way he crawled under our homes spraying everything, then spraying the outside with a double dose of chemicals.

He has cancer and needs Chemo Treatments. He has no insurance and does not qualify for financial help. If anyone knows where he can get some help or if you would like to give a donation please contact:
