Dea Bowman...lot 212..May 4

We've been doing lots of traveling since we left B.G. the first part of April. New Orleans, Eustis, Florida and Myrtle Beach, S.C. and now on our way to Nashville , Tennessee for a few days. What I really wanted to write about is my very good friend, Wathena Stock W111, She teaches water color painting at B.G. She has had a re occurrence of Cancer and is now taking some Kemo treatments before they do surgery. She is a very sick lady and I think some cards would be welcome. If you would like, her home address is Box 7, Strasburg, Mo. 64090. May you have safe travels wherever you may decide to go. Dea

Greetings from Hamburg/Germany Christa May 6

Dear friends, thank you for the Bentsen Grove letters! We love to get them and be informed!

More than 6 months we spent in Italy past winter. It has been a long period and Christa was often a little homesick. However, looking back now, it was a good winter. The mild climate is good for Hako and me. For the first time since many, many winters, Hako didn’t have any infection and no antibiotics had to be taken. We travelled intensively all over Sicily – turned over every single stone! – and like the island and its people very much. So much has changed, many camp grounds have opened and quite a lot of winter tourists are there. When you know where to shop, life is not expensive. We speak the language and made many contacts with local people. We do miss, however, all the activities we could take part in during our stay in Bentsen Grove. Only slowly these things get started in Southern Italy, mainly, because indoor facilities are missing on the camp grounds. Our favourite place is the south coast of Sicily, specially Agrigento, and we will join local activities, the next time we stay there.

Just now we are back from a 10 days stay with our 2 daughter’s families in Norway. Markus, our 2nd grandson, celebrated his confirmation, and we enjoyed every minute with them very much.

The weather was perfect, the cathedral and service impressive, most Norwegian families were wearing their national costumes. We are very grateful that we could take part. We took Christa’s 85year old mother with us and she managed the long trip quite well although her bones are causing much pain.

Many activities are booked for the summer, both Norwegian families are coming – a lot to look forward to! The next winter seems far away, no exact plans so far – but we do hope to arrange a stay in Bentsen Grove!

Best wishes from Hamburg!

Yours Christa and Hako

From Joy Gerstner D12 May 12

We arrived at Roscommon, Mi. on Saturday. Jack's younger daughter and her husband followed us up - in their car - and helped with the big job of opening up and cleaning the place. Really appreciated them and their help. All is well, and we played cards at the Senior Center this PM, and ate there afterwards. Joy
