From Evie Spellman A 17 : We are finally home from our 8,331 mile trip in 6 weeks.... Visited my daughter and two granddaughters and their families in Las Vegas. One granddaughter and family and my daughter and husband live there...the other daughter and family live in North Hollywood, California. Then up the coast, through the redwoods, to Oregon to visit a friend. Next to Whidbey Island in Washington where three cousins and their families live. All my cousins are the ages of my children.... Next to Spokane to see Bob's aunt and uncle, both in their mid 90's and doing well.

Lots of sight-seeing, of course. Snoqualmie Falls in Washington, was marvelous. Little Big Horn Battlefield, Mount Rushmore, Wall Drugs, The Corn Palace , Visited Glenn's daughters in two different towns in Wisconsin, the Golf Tournament at Mille Lacs in Minnesota, saw my son in Minneapolis, Bob and Lorraine Howard in Missouri, my brother and his wife in Bella Vista Arkansas, Pea Ridge National Park, George Washington Carver National Park, Dave and Jackie Stuelke in Hot Springs, Arkansas, my daughter in Louisiana, and then we beat the hurricane evacuation by one day., arriving home to find my rocked yard covered...and I do mean COVERED, with weeds, both front and back yards....Some reached my knees. Well, to tell the truth, they STILL reach my knees. That's next on my "to do" list.

Traveling was wonderful, but getting home...that's pure JOY !! Now we both have to diet. Evie Spellman (A-17) and Glenn Baumann (605)

Harold and Wanda Green F8 Harold and I celebrate our 60's anniversary this month so decided to take a trip to Branson which was something we had not done. Left the valley on the 8th of September and arrived in Branson on 9th. We were with a tour and so our days were planned, and they were great. We saw five shows and had time to shop and tour and of course cruise the restaurants. During one of the shows we run into Bob and Lorraine Howard formally B1. Returned to Fort Worth with a stop at Precious Moments. Wondered if we would get home because of Ike , ran into rain and wind out of Fort Worth then the rest of the way was smooth sailing. Arrived right on time on the 13th. We were glad to arrive back in the valley and see that there was nothing of the storm.

Nan Persinger @ 315: Yikes!! This time it was Ike..... We are blessed to not have had any affects from this hurricane (notice it was a "him"icane that caused so much damage). We did, however, get quite a bit of rain yesterday, causing flooding some places in The Valley. Guess that means more grass mowing, weed eating and round-up! It just hasn't quit this summer - sure keeping us lawn people busy. We had our first official park meeting last Tuesday - many attended. Brenda, Bonnie and Ron all had information to share with us. One of the big additions to this Park will be the Putting and Chipping Green over on the west side; are planning to start the construction of it the latter part of this month. The cleaning ladies have started their "winter" hours now and we have a new lady helping Laura - her name is "Mattie" (I believe that's how it is spelled). We had a very cool morning - around 64 degrees - and a beautiful day here; sure felt like Fall; and those leaves are starting to fall more and more every day. Our first yard sale will be on Saturday, October 25th; and then there will be another one some time in the Spring. We are planning our costumes for Halloween now - some of us don't need many props; just a broom - ha! Some more residents have returned and are happy to be back; we're looking forward to seeing more and more of you as the days get shorter. We'll soon be busy with the hustle and bustle of life and activities around here - see yu'al real soon.
