Deane Bowman Lot 212 - Well everyone, what you seen on the news about the floods in Iowa, believe every bit of it. We lived in Cedar Rapids for 23 years and still have family there. So we were very familiar with the places and streets on the news. We happened to be there for a visit at the time of the flooding before starting our trip for the Summer. Our family was all high and dry. So thankful for that. The water has mostly gone down as of this letter but they are not letting people back in their homes until they can be inspected. People are loosing their patience but I suppose it is for the best. All of downtown C. R. under many feet of water, the Cedar River goes right down the center of the main part of downtown. At one time the distance from Cedar Rapids to Iowa City (normally 26 miles) was detoured clear around through Des Moines a distance of 280 miles. Can you believe that? Most of these rivers dump into the Mississippi so you know what that means for places like St. Louis and all in between. I'm sure they would gladly give you all the water down there you need. Have a good summer everyone, we're planning on it.

Larry and Dianne Hagenstad W66 on Susan From Mn. News from Sally Hacks dtr. that she passed away. She was a long time resident on Susan. Her trailer pulled out in ‘07. She was from Indianapolis. Would enjoy getting newsletters in the summer. Sorry to hear about Jackie.
Has been a cold spring, no flooding where we live but people around us have had tornadoes and hail. Dianne.
Nan Persinger, Lot #315: Yes, I am still at 315 - I haven't the foggiest notion how the word "formerly" got into the last Newsletter. There was good attendance at the Father's Day gathering and some of the Fathers won new cars!! See what you are missing by not staying here during the summer?!? Our next potluck will be on the Fourth of July. We still haven't had any rain here in the Park; wish yu'al could send some this way. Our Park Maintenance is doing a makeover of the front gate entrance on the West side - they have installed decorative stone for new flower beds and we'll be getting a new look in the lettering. They are continuing to cut down dead trees and trim others; and of course still mowing (although it's mostly weeds). You will also return to a different look in the Annex; a room has been built to house the kiln in there. We are still having coffee and donuts on Tuesdays, although the crowd is getting slimmer. Several couples left this past week. We continue to enjoy the wildlife activities here in the park; jack rabbit, road runner, black whistling ducks, green herons, night hawks, owls, fox, and others. A residence on the West side has orioles visiting their feeder daily. Let us hear what's going on in your world, too, OK? Til next time.
Barb Goff A26 Hi all. I’m in the beautiful state of MN having a great time touring the state with Nancy Schulke (formerly W102) Betty Skillings (A28) Lil Olson and Lucille Schulke ( 121). I had never been to MN and they have been showing me the state – Judy Garland’s home and Museum, The Ironworks in Chisholm, the North Shore drive, Minneapolis and the Guthrie Theater where we saw a wonderful contemporary Shakespearian play “Midsummer’s Night Dream.” I love the scenery and the cool weather – in the 70’s - very refreshing.
Tomorrow I head for Omaha and a visit with Shirley Kemp. Looking forward to seeing the sites there.
My friend, Marie Groat (A11) is in New York visiting with her daughters and family. I hear that she is feeling well.
Will be home for the 4th.
