SUMMER NEWSLETTER 01
Barb Goff A26 Hi everyone, The response for news has been so great that I feel I should send the first news letter out earlier than I had anticipated. I didn't want the letter to get so big that it would take a long time to download.
Also, so many people have inquired about Hope, I wanted to share her letter with you as soon as possible. I know that you will be eager to read her news and to send good wishes to her and her son.
Keep the news coming.

Hope Jones A25 It's been a beautiful day here, and on sun-shiney days, I always feel more upbeat.
We've had a hard winter here in West Michigan, and I'm sure hoping that the snowfalls are history for this season! We've had 114.6" of the white stuff, and it seemed as though it never went away, only compacted a bit before more new stuff dumped on us. One can only admire snow and more snow for so long til you get to the point of begging God to call a halt to it all. Even children got to point of eagerly looking forward to spring. Easter Egg Hunts were either postponed, or held in snow banks, or where possible, moved indoors. Most were scheduled for Good Friday or Easter Saturday, and here in Holland on Good Friday we had 13+ inches of new snows, which canceled most Good Friday church services.
Had hoped to get to B/G if only briefly this season that's just ended, but it just was not meant to be. I would not have been able to really enjoy being in Texas with my son still having varying complications happening to his left leg. I would have worried much more than I do now, being here with him every day.
Gregg is once again in isolation with his 2nd flare-up of the MRSA infection. Outpatient surgery in a Grand Rapids hospital a week ago Friday, the surgeon took a culture and sent it to lab to test status of the MRSA in his left leg. If it is minimal, he can be released from isolation and once more get about this care facility, and over to see friends he's made in the residential side. Last Nov-Dec, he was in isolation with this for about 6 weeks. A long time to be confined to a small room! Especially, with only his mother for usual social contact. Last time, he spent Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve in isolation. This time, it's been Easter and his 57th birthday, although the Activity Office printed up a sign at this doorway announcing it was his birthday, and many residents and staff stopped by his doorway to wish him a Happy Birthday...that really perked him up! He even had two birthday cakes...one from the dining staff here, and the other from me which I'd bought at our local Wal-mart and had personalized for him.
Do keep in touch....I'll be checking my incoming emails on the resident desktop in the common room right outside my son's room every few days. Do feel free to share this email address of mine with anyone else interested in writing to me. Tell folks that there is an underscore line between my first and last name in this email address: hope_jones@writeme.com
Fondly, Hope

Betty and George Danford (former A-22) George and I spent the winter months in Ft. Pierce, Florida. It worked out well but not as nice nor the fun we had during the 14 years we spent at Bentsen Grove. We are in a two bedroom duplex that is just outside the entrance to the Tall Pines Senior Mobile Home Community. We will be leaving here on April 21st and Bruce, our son, will be driving us to Michigan.
I will be looking forward to reading the emails from all our friends.

Don & Deane. Bowman.Lot 212 Yes the winter went way to fast. We made a lot of new friends and loved it all. We left the park the 4th of April. Got to Henderson Texas the first day. Stopped by Mena, Ak, the second day and stopped to see Jim and Marty Phillips a driving break. Spending around a week in Pea Ridge, AK. to visit family. Then, on to Branson, Mo.
All of you have a great, safe Summer. We're already looking foreword to next winter. We have plans to make Nova Scotia this year. Will let you know what kind of diesel prices we run into. Oh well! You can't take it with you. Have you ever seen a hearse pulling a UP-Haul? Have a fun summer.

Ken and Bonnie Paskey W112 We had a good fast trip home here in Wisconsin where we still had some snow. Finally today, April 5, our temperature was over 50 and it actually felt a little like spring. I was warm enough walking our dog today wearing only a fleece jacket.
We attended Ken's oldest brother's funeral on Monday. Tonight we were to the visitation for our son's father in law who lost his 2 year battle with brain cancer. Tomorrow is his funeral.
The good news is that all of our grandsons are thriving. It sure felt good to be able to hold the youngest one who was born in December for the first time. We are having them here for dinner on Sunday. We will be going to a waterpark in Wisconsin Dells in two weeks for a family get-together. I think I have everything unpacked and put away finally. I only left one pair of shoes in Texas.

We plan to leave about the 15th of April. Going west to see our daughters.(maybe son-in laws, too, eh) One lives outside Terlingua, Tex. That is just west of Big Bend Park. The other lives in Vegas. We park the MH in Golden Valley, Ariz., as they have an acreage there that they are fixing up for their retirement. They have fixed a place for our MH that has all the hookups. Plan to come back through Okla. to see Doris' kinfolks. Mike will do all the driving, as my eyesight will not allow me to drive the rig anymore.
Have a good summer, everyone, and we will see you again in the fall. Ed and Doris Wofford

Joy Gerstner D12 Doris Hott (D16) caught the plane Apr. 1, called that she arrived home without incident , to snow on the ground, 40 degrees - and loving it !!

Don and Carla Badgley W237 I will try to keep you up to date on the progress of our swimming pool! As you know we have had many problems in trying to get it open – the latest of which seems to involve the property line! Apparently we did not realize where the Park property ended and it turns out that we may have dug the hole for the pool over too far so that it may be under the Saenz property. We hope that we do not have to move it and we certainly hope that this will not be the cause of another delay in the opening celebration!
