FROM Betty Danford A-22

Well we finally made it to Michigan Wednesday afternoon. It was interesting to see the gas prices on the way. First in Texas we paid 2.99 a gallon just as we left on Sunday; Waco we paid $3.09 a gallon; 3.05 in Tenn: 3.14 in Kentucky;Michigan paid 3.65 a gallon. We left San Antonio in rain andmore rain on the day following, then sun the rest of the way. Leaving a month early makes a difference with the trees. Everything is out in bloom. Usually when we get home all is just starting to show some color. George is doing better today as he had a difficult trip home.

Again, I thank all of you for being there for us during this past month in Texas. I want to thank Barb for doing the summer letters as we all enjoy receiving them. Took me awhile to get the computer going as I had to call AOL to help me get on line. Problem with email address. Many new buildings for you to see on your way down in the fall. Mission is really changing with all the new stores.

. We have arrived back in Illinois via Florida to see our daughter. She visits us each winter and shops in Mexico. Then we deliverthe goods to her in the spring. We had the

opportunity to see our grandson run track in the southern sectional in Illinois. He ran the two mile and came in 5th andwas 8th in the mile. He did good for a freshman in high school.

We are still unpacking from Texas and trying to pack the travel trailer for a campout with our club this holiday weekend. We had beautiful travel weather, avoided the smoke from fires in Fla. and Ga. Our new car started outwith 17.7 mpg and was 21.4 arriving in Illinois. It is getting broken in good, supposed to be 25 mpg at best. Gas is 3.39 here. So glad Barb is doing Hope's newsletter. We prayfor Hope and all others who are suffering.

Last Wednesday May 24th nine of us residents took a bus trip to Eagle Pass and then on to the Casino that's just outside of Eagle Pass. Its was a good trip if not profitable still fun to get away for a couple of day. We passed through the area that the tornado hit just a few weeks ago and completely destroyed the school.

The potluck on the 28th was attended by 75 people and Peggy & Gordon had a couple of fun games after all the good food. It was a good turn out on a very hot afternoon and the decoration of red, white, and blue were just right

From Nancy Schulke (Formerly Lot W103):

Re Arlette Kluge, (Lot 121) She has been in the hospital since May 20. After many tests, she has Acute Leukemia. She has chosen not to take any extra treatments. Tonight her son told me that she is now resting more comfortable. The pain medicine has been adjusted to her needs, and she does notneed to be turned in bed so often. The family will be meeting with the hospital on Tuesday re moving her to Hospice care. They hope there is an opening in Elk River, MN. Thenshe would be close to family and friends. Her time frame is about 2 or 3 weeks, but not more then a month. Harry said she enjoys short visit from people and talking about the good times. She talked about Texas and the people there. If you wish to send a card, the address is

From Peggy Philbrook (Lot 707):

Library Air-Conditioned!!! Our library now has air - beautiful, cool air! What a joy. It is a Central Air unit and makes a world of difference in the ability to enjoy being in there and the comfort of working in there. Thank you for all who asked Bobbie for this - and Thank You Bobbie for doing it! (Please try to remember to thank him in the next feedbacks we send him).

Library Workers needed

Going along with this: The summer Library work crew consists of just two women and there have been many new books donated. Plus the library gets heavy traffic and there are a lot of books to be re-shelved. If you would be willing to help, would you let Carolyn Abbott (424-7113) or Betty Hamel (585-3217) know? (I'll be in one day as soon as I'm over my "crud.")
