From Barb Goff A26: Just talked to Hope and she is in good spirits and plans to stay at her granddaughter's home a while longer. She's doing well but still very tired and needs lots of rest. In case you have had mail addressed to her returned, numbers had been transposed and the correct address is:
Hope Jones c/o Amber Kerres
A-5904 142nd Ave. #121
Holland, MI 49423-9396
Here are snippets of news around the area. The Mill Restaurant has been sold and is closed. It may or may not reopen under new management The Mandarin Restaurant (next to Red Lobster) has been remodeled and is now Pier 88 – Seafood, Steaks and Pasta. Will be opening soon. In the convention center area they are building a B.J.'S Restaurant which is a Calif. Chain. I think they will have pizza and I'm not sure what else. There will also be a five-story motel there and either a Barnes and Nobles or a Border's Book Store. Building is fast and furious around the Mission, Mc Allen Exp 83 frontage road. The new Academy located on east Ware and exp 83 should be opening next month. There are plans for many more Outlet Stores in the Mercedes Outlet Mall. You won't recognize the whole area when you return in the fall. The building around this area is just mind-boggling. We will all need maps to find our way to the next restaurant. (As you have assumed, I am a restaurant-oriented person.)
The opera is finally coming to the valley. Next month "La Boheme" will be performed at the Civic Center. Now isn't that classy?
All and all, the valley is a very nice place to live.
