George and Betty Danford ( A-22 ) Well finally
George has his new Defibular/Pacemaker (ICD) placed in the right
shoulder area as of April 25th. The doctors had been trying
to clear up the staph infection in his ICD pocket on the left
shoulder since February and finally told us the ICD had to be removed
in order to get rid of the infection. We left for San Antonio
on the 15th after we found out that it could not be removed here in
McAllen as they did not have the equipment to do the
procedure. Arrived at the Methodist Hospital for admission on
the 16th early in the morning and by afternoon they had taken out the
ICD and lasered the leads out of the heart. He was without an
ICD for nine days while they treated the staph infection. He
now sports a new ICD on the right shoulder area that is from
St. Jude Medical. We both want to thank all of you for the
support we received with your phone calls, cards, and the time you have
taken to visit since we arrived back in Mission. AND this includes all
the many things that you have done for us. You never know how
much you are appreciated until something happens and you are there to
support us and help with the things we cannot do. Thank you
all -- so very very much.

From Peggy Philbrook (Lot #707): What fun! On
Thursday, May 10, twenty-five women from the park took Wilma Mueller to
lunch at Victoria's Garden to celebrate her retirement as Park
Post-mistress. Good food, lots of chatter, lots of
camaraderie was enjoyed and Wilma finally got to enjoy a "Ladies
Luncheon" in the middle of what would have been her work-day.
Thank you, Wilma, for all the times you went out of your way to help
us; you'll be missed as post-mistress, but welcomed as a "regular" part
of park activities from now on.

From Kathy and Ralph Gnitka (lot 109): I hate to tell you about all
our medical problems, but at this moment , we are
very unhappy about the cornea re-transplant that was done on April 25.
Kathy's eye had an artery hemorrhage resulting in severe retinal
detachment
and after three 3hr surgeries during the past 10 days, she is totally
blind
in that eye and quite miserable. We have made over 15 trips
to doctors &
hospitals since arriving home in mid March. Hope you folks
are fine. As
ever, Kathy & Ralph
Gnitka

From Wilma Mueller, A47 First I want to thank Barbara for
taking on the enormous job of the summer newsletter. I for one look
forward to getting the news of all our residents. It's almost like them
being here. Also, she can't do this job without your help - SO - give
her some help & write about your summer.
Jackie & Paul are on a 3 week tour (the first one by
themselves). They went to see Paul's Mother in Alabama & then
just mosey around for a couple of weeks. I hope they enjoy their motor
home. In case some of you might not have heard they found 2 more small
spots in Jackie. The doctor isn't to worried at this time & no
treatments are necessary. It's something to watch. I talked to Hope
Saturday night & she seems to be doing good. She is tired most
of the time, & she asked the doctor if it was her age. He told
her "no" it was the extent of the surgery, & he said it might
be 2 months before she is herself again. I'm sorry the address I gave
wasn't quite correct, but she didn't include the lot#. Gosh I thought
only that was required here at the park!! Be sure & include
#121 on the address. They both could use your prayers.
For those who are interested in all the bridges, well the
Anzalduas Bridge finally got approved & work is to begin in a
couple of weeks. It is to be completed in June 2009. According to local
officials, the bridge, which comes at a cost of $48 million will create
hundreds of new jobs. The 3 mile international bridge will be located
south on Stewart Road in Mission.
Those who are enjoying their 70 or so weather I would send
them some of our upper 90's days. I hate to think about July &
August.
Some of you were gone when I decided to retire from the Mail
Room. I will miss talking to all of you. Donna Ayers is now going to
take care of your problems.
Have a good summer .

John Abbott [A9] For those who were aware that Ron Cass [509] went into
the Heart Hospital last Friday, let me update his
status. First and foremost he is safely at home and
is back to his normal (for Ron) self. There was a
great deal of consternation between doctors at Heart Hospital and
trying to determine if he actually had experienced a mild heart attack
of not. Ron finally suggested that a course of Prednisone had
brought him back up the last time the doctors were confused.
So the doctors after three days of thinking and testing came up with
the brilliant idea of putting him on a course of
Prednisone! He is doing fine and is at home
micromanaging his corner of the park.

From Wilma Mueller, A47 In case you haven't heard we lost a great guy
here at BG. Gene Burk, D6 passed away May 11th. The family were there
for dinner, played cards (as they love to do). Gene slumped to the
floor with a massive heart attack. I talked to Lois on Monday &
of course she was still in shock. If you need her address it is:Lois
Burk, 1128 Garden Street, Ogilive, MN. 56358.
