FREE ON LINE VIRUS SCANNING SERVICE By Harold Buechly Why might you want to scan your computer for viruses when you have a good anti-virus running and you keep it up to date? Maybe just for a double check to make sure it is doing the job you expect it to do. Norton’s is free and does not require registration. There also is a security test here to make sure your Zone Alarm or other fire wall is working correctly. Run both of them. http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/ Housecall is also free and does not require registration. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ Either Norton or Housecall will run properly using Internet Explorer. Housecall required a plugin for Netscape. I could not get Housecall to work with Firefox. |

SIGNATURE
ON YOUR E-MAILS By Harold
Buechly There are two types of signatures used
in e-mail. One is a digital signature which is for security and sending
confidential information. Will also verify the sender is who they say they are.
I know very little about digital signatures and have no use for it myself. The other is a personal signature that
appears at the end of all created e-mails. I use such a signature on my sent
messages as a courtesy to identify exactly who I am, my complete street
address and telephone numbers I use, both during the winter and summer as
well as our e-mail addresses. To create your signature using Outlook
Express click on TOOLS, OPTIONS then SIGNATURE tab. Click on NEW on the
right, TEXT on the left and start entering your signature. There are many
options available including several signatures or storing your signature in a
file on your hard disk. Using AOL, Simply click on MAIL, SET
MAIL SIGNATURE, CREATE, enter a signature name and create your signature in
the box provided. E-Mail Etiquette Sites that may help us
to make better e-mails. http://www.iwillfollow.com/email.htm |
